My mother is stern, but loving.
Giving, but cautious.
She taught me many things over the years
that at the time I thought were dumb.
She taught me to give to others in need.
To love, and forgive.
To volunteer, and to follow
"The Golden Rule".
She taught me that family was everything,
because she had so little family herself.
She tried to teach me to cook,
but I tried her patience.
Through all of this, I tested her faith,
patience, and love. I was the opposite
of what a good child should be.
But she still loved me.
Now, I use almost everything she taught me.
I try to see the goodness in people.
I give help every chance I get, and I
will drop everything for a family member
or friend to help them.
All this has made me who I am today.
I owe her everything!
